Summer is almost Over...but...the New Music keeps coming!

Hello again TMB Fans -

Wow....definitely the summer Blues, hot weather, hectic schedules and vacations, all of these things tend to get in the way regulary updating this blog. It is not much of an excuse but it will endeavor to be more diligent in the future.

Perhaps, I was jolted from my creative doldrums by a listener's call into the show this evening. Dorothy from Shelburne, Vermont happened across 88.7 FM on her car radio during my show and enjoyed what she heard. Interestingly, I tend to get more calls during the acoustical blues segment of my show than any other. Dorothy called to get some clarification on the Cephas & Wiggins tracks I had played from their lastest effort, "Shoulder to Shoulder". Dorothy mentioned that she was going down to her favorite music store to purchase "Shoulder to Shoulder". I could not be happier because that is what I hope "Those Monday Blues" can do for the Blues music world. I am not quite the expert but I try to do my best to have good relationships with prominent Blues labels so TMB listeners have an opportunity to hear new music from contemporary and local Blues artists as well as the classics we all know and love.

Let's us all do our part to support Blues music. Buy a CD, attend a show, send a letter to your favorite artist or listen to a Blues radio program. Through these efforts, the Blues and other non-mainstream music will stay healthy and vibrant.

Speaking of Cephas & Wiggins' "Shoulder to Shoulder", it is a great CD. I enjoy each and every track. Many of my family members came into my "studio" as I reviewing the CD to ask what I was listening to. High praise indeed. The wonderful vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica are complemented but not overshadowed by bass and piano on several tracks. It is one of those CD that I just set on repeat and let play.

There was a lot of new music played tonight. I couldn't be happier. New and recent releases from Jeremy Spencer, Albert Cumming, Bill Perry, Cephas & Wiggins, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials, Guitar Shorty, Eddie Turner, Sue Foley, Janiva Magness, Eric Lindell, Lynwood Slim and Walter Trout. I just have to say again that the recent releases from the various labels have been a delight. I can't wait to share more tracks from these recent releases in the coming weeks.

I have to run. Thank you for all for your support. "Those Midnight Blues" will continue in the Monday, 5p-9p, time slot for the entire month of August. If there is a schedule change, you will all be the first to know.

Cheers,

John "OneChord" Connors
