Still More New Music : Sue Foley

Welcome TMB Fans!

"Those Midnight Blues" is anxious to share still more new music to arrive at the studio, Sue Foley's latest effort, "New Used Car". Sue Foley has been referred to as "The Canadian Queen of the Blues Guitar". This will be her first studio release in four years. So far, I am liking what I am hearing. As you all know, there is a special place for female Blues artists on this show especially for those who are of the player-songwriter-vocalist stripe like Foley. She plays a mean axe and has the pipes to go with it combined with original songwriting. I am very excited to share these new tracks with you. She wrote or co-wrote 11 out of the 12 tracks on "New Used Car"and has received a record setting 17 of Canada's Maple Blues Awards.

But wait there is more!

Due to Foley's inspiration and contributing effort lead to a CD compilation of "Blues Guitar Women", a documentation of women guitar players from the past to the present. The 2-disc set is available now and a forthcoming book is in the works. More information on that project as it becomes available.

Definitely expect to hear a few tracks from "New Used Car" this week along with other contemporary artists and those artists from the past that inspired them.

Cheers,

OneChord

New Acoustic Blues : Catfish Keith's "Sweet Pea"

Salutations, Midnight Blues Fans !

John Sheehey, the venerable sage of the WWPV Folk Show, sensed my recent yen to play more acoustic Blues, (especially slide resonator guitars) and put me onto Catfish Keith's newest release, "Sweet Pea". I am definitely keeping Catfish Keith in my acoustic blues rotation for those late nights where I want to sink into the twilight and hear "the Delta" here in Vermont. Expect to hear more of the "Catfish" during my more reflective moments during the show.

Cheers & Right back atcha!

Equal Time for Men?!

Hi Ho TMB Fans -

As some of you know, I have been featuring various sets of 2005 Blues Music Awards in various categories starting with, contemporary female Blues artist of the year nominees. On my next show, I will do my very best to feature tracks from all of the nominees for male contemporary Blues artist of the year. This years nominees are : Kim Wilson, Tommy Castro, AlvinYoungblood Hart, Sonny Landreth, and Tab Benoit. I will do my best but I will continue to feature tracks from the nominees for best contemporary Blues album of the year which includes :
  • Fever For The Bayou - Tab Benoit
  • Gettin' My Groove Back - Elvin Bishop
  • Live! Down The Road - Marcia Ball
  • Soul Shaker - Tommy Castro
  • The Soul Truth - Shemekia Copeland

I will do my best to round up some tracks by Tab Benoit. Don't worry I will play tracks from the other various nominees from the other categories as well and take your requests. However, I am feeling the need for some serious Delta Acoustic Blues.

Your ever dutiful Blues host,

OneChord.
