Good Evening TMB Fans -

WWPV has just completed a full week of its new schedule. There are just too many shows to cover in just one blog entry. So...I will just do 2..maybe...3...maybe 5... there are just so many to choose. Each show and the associated DJs bring fun and unique perspectives to each show. I know that I would never be exposed to nearly as much new music and diverse genres if I didn't listen to college radio regularly.

If you like the Blues, Soul, R&B, Smooth Jazz and Funk, as TMB listeners you should take the time to listen to Midnight Snack with Chris Bishop, Saturday Night, Midnight - 2am EST (playlist) and the Funky Good Time Power Hour, Sunday 5pm - 7pm EST. (playlist)

I also have to give a big shout-out to Scanlor who hosts Succulence, Sunday Noon - 3pm & to the hosts of The Pre-Game Show, Saturday, 5pm - 7pm. Scanlor not only bring a diverse and varied playlist to the fore. If that wasn't enough, his "Cake or Death" segment is reason enough to watch the show each and every week. With a fresh format, the old crew of "The Full Ponty" is back with "The Pre-Game Show" hosted by "Webmaster Rex" Vinnie, Chris & Jon. What I like about "The Pre-Game Show" and "Succulence" (applies to all WWPV shows, doesn't it?) is the witty unrehearsed banter and the rapier wit of these DJs. A further inducment for listening, you are going to hear music that you wouldn't normally listen to but find out you like. You may rediscover your lost love for reggae, punk, heavy metal or acoustical. As a further bonus, you just may hear the new music and bands long before the stodgy corporate music moguls decide it is worthy for their "media channels". How long has it been since you could say, "I listened to them long before they become huge stars"

If you just like real radio broadcasting, with actual DJs who answer the phone when you call, then I ask to support college radio. How you may ask? Just by listening and calling the DJs to provide encouragement. Don't forget to tell your friends and family. Listen to the webstream or preprogram a button on your car radio.

Don't forget call those DJs, say "Hi" and make a request. We love it especially when for the late night DJs. (remember..Those Monday Blues used to be Those Midnight Blues)

New Release : Jackie Payne Steve Edmonson Band

Hello TMB Fans -

As I promised, I would my best to bring you great new Blues release as soon as I can. It is my great pleasure to announce that the station has received "Master of the Game" by the Jackie Payne Steven Edmonson Band being released by Delta Groove Productions. It's smooth but high energy. It's passionate and tight but not edgey. It is a great fusion of Chicago-West Coast Blues & Soul with a dash of Gospel spice. With an official street date of October 17, you will have to wait to buy this CD. That's the bad news, but you can get to hear it on Those Monday Blues until that. If you like what you hear, just give me a call during the show & I will play another track. There is not a bad track on this CD.

Be prepared, yet again, in the 2d hour of the show where I concentrate most of the new music...but... If you call, I would be more than glad to play another track from any of the "New - Blues" CDs. All you need to do is go the this show's playlists and look for "New - Blues".

In Remembrance of the 9/11 Tragedy

Tonight's show was dedicated to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks and their surviving families. I thought about trying to put together a show to reflect the sense of loss, senseless death and tragedy on the 5th Anniversary of the 9/11/2001 attacks on New York City, Washington DC and Flight 93. I realized I wasn't up to the task so I just tried to do a good show. If I have to say one thing, let's think about the 9/11/2001 attacks and the events that have followed more than once a year. That is the very least we owe those who died on that day. It is our duty to think clearly, objectively, and compassionately on how best to focus our efforts and contributions of time, money and effort to prevent this tragedy from happening again while maintaining the fundamental principles that we hold dear and founded this great nation.

WWPV Fall Schedule : "Those Midnight Blues" makes the cut!

Greeting & Saluations TMB Fans -

The WWPV Fall schedule has been finalized and "Those Midnight Blues" makes the cut and continues in its Monday, 5pm - 8pm EST time slot.

I am thrilled and delighted with the news. The new WWPV schedule will also be very exciting as well. It start full speed ahead on Monday, September 11 at 10am EST. Tune in & Vibe On. Remember not only is WWPV available on your FM dial (88.7 FM) but via our webcast as well available from the website. In a sense, WWPV is global. Wow...there's a thought.

I encourage you to listen to the variety of programming available at WWPV. From the smooth & gripping grooves of "Jazz on Tuesday" and the "Two Jazz Guys" on Tuesday & Wednesday, 5pm-8pm, the venerable "The Folk Show" where anything can happen on Thursday, 5p-8p to Friday (yes...again 5pm-8pm) "Shillelagh Safari".

Are there other great shows? Definitely! Look for "Succulence", I am a huge fan of Scanlor's "Cake or Death" segments. Shows by Kirsten Hendrix & Mary Cate Connors are always musically fresh, entertaining and unique. Don't forget "Krunch Time" with "The Hurricane" for the best of movie & TV soundtracks along with excellent radio theater and comedic tracks. Labor Day Show, Sept 4! Be there! ...or not.

Hello Fans of "Those Monday Blues" -

Yes, there will be a Labor Day show this week. Although WWPV is operating on an abbreviated schedule, "Those Monday Blues" will be broadcasting on the Labor Day holiday. While I did work today, so did so many others. No worries here, It was a quiet day on campus.

Give me a call during the show....802-654-2887. It is going to be quite random today. I am going to stick to the format of acoustic Blues and related roots music in the first hour but after that I am open to suggestions, advice, comments and questions from the listeners.
